Special Waste Cogeneration Plants

Eric-Son supplies highly efficient turnkey rotary kiln systems for the combustion of special waste, such as such as sludge, animal carcasses, animal powder, solvents, hospital waste, sewage and industrial waste.

This approach has the advantages of solving the waste problem by transforming the treated waste into inert ashes, while at the same time/ simultaneously recovering the heat produced which enables /and allowing the production of:

  • Electric Energy (for the /auxiliary power plants supply and for exporting to the electric grid)
  • Heating (for industrial processes or district heating)
  • Low pressure steam
  • Overheated steam
  • Hot water
  • Diathermic oil heating
  • Cooling (for cooling systems or refrigeration processes)

This allows a sensible reduction of the plants running costs and an additional income through selling the electricity to the local/national electric grid.

Problems with the combustion of waste:

One of the main problems with waste is its inhomogeneity. Even waste of the same type differs in its chemical composition and calorific power. Such changes in waste quality during plant operation can lead to the following problems:

  • Incorrect combustion
  • Increased fuel consumption
  • Unburned ashes
  • High concentrations of dust and pollutants

Our solution

Grounded on its long term know-how Eric-Son uses accurate mathematical models for designing, sizing and choosing the technological features to be implemented to solve the aforementioned problems in power plants they commission. These specifically aim to allow the auto-combustive effect in our/the plants, which makes the supplied waste burn with practically no fuel consumption.

Additionally, in order to guarantee constant performance under changing waste quality levels, the company’s combustion plants are equipped with an intelligent control units that monitors and adjusts all parameters in real time. This intelligent control system does the following:

  • Identify immediately any changes in the waste
  • Identifies changes in waste immediately/in real-time
  • Modify the system’s parameters
  • Maintain a constant plant performance

The main advantages of Eric-Son’s rotary kiln waste combustion plants are as follows:

  • Minimum fuel consumption
  • Low running costs
  • High efficiency heat exchangers
  • Able to respect strictest emission levels
  • Conformity with regulations
  • System stability with waste variation
  • Very low percentage of ashes produced
  • Inert ashes
  • Additional source of income through energy production

Preserving the environment

In order to protect the environment Eric-Son uses an efficient flue gas cleaning process process for flue gas cleaning. This system is based on the injection of sodium bicarbonate and active carbon in the off-gases, allowing to meet strictest emission levels. Additionally, a control unit constantly analyses and monitors the level of HCl, Dust, CO2, SO2, NOx, COT and other pollutants.

The advantages of our scrubbing system are:
